In the recent past, the builders typically controlled the lots.  Developers would sell a lot to a builder and the builder would build the home.  There were few options for buyers that wished to bring a specific builder to a lot.

That is less the case now than it has been in a long time.

Below is a list of lots for sale that are much more likely to allow a buyer to acquire the lot and bring their own builder to the mix and not force the buyer to use a builder that may not match their styles, tastes or price point.
